Nine Star Ki

Nine Star Ki (九星気学) sorts people into nine types, called Main Stars, based on the year they were born. Each star carries a different element and a different way of moving through the world, and once you know yours, you can read it against anyone else's.

The system was systematized in Japan in 1924 by Shinjirō Sonoda, drawing on much older Chinese cosmology: the Luoshu magic square and the five-element (wu xing) theory that also underlies traditional Chinese medicine and feng shui.
