Where Nine Star Ki comes from
Nine Star Ki (九星気学) was systematized in Japan in 1924 by Shinjirō Sonoda (園田真次郎), building on the older Kyūsei Hōkangaku (九星方鑑学) tradition. It draws on much older Chinese cosmology — the Luoshu (洛書) magic square and the five-element (wu xing) theory that also underlies traditional Chinese medicine and feng shui. It's a Japanese system built on Chinese foundations, not a Japanese invention from scratch.
