How Nine Star Ki compatibility works

Nine Star Ki sorts everyone into nine Main Stars based on their birth year, and each star carries one of five elements: water, wood, fire, earth or metal. Compatibility between two people comes from how their elements relate to each other, not from luck or mood.

Some element pairs generate each other (one feeds the other's strength), some share the same element (mirroring each other), and some control each other (a natural friction). None of these is simply "good" or "bad" — each shows up here as a different kind of dynamic, and the same two birth dates will always produce the same result, unlike compatibility quizzes that change their answer depending on the day.
